I'm hearing there is no offline play, no LAN play, no single player. If this is really the case, I have less than no interest in this game, now. Someone please tell me this isn't true...

I can't say for certain about no offline play...I would assume you could do the single player campaign if you didn't have an internet connection...but I don't know...I had to buy a video card instead.

I know people in the beta were playing single player matches against the AI.

I believe they said there wasn't LAN cause its running through Battlenet and tied to RealID etc etc. So you'd have to log in to play mutliplayer.

Okay, I received a clarification from the person that told me the info in the first post. I guess to play single player (Terran only, Zerg and Protoss will be SOLD separately at a later date), you HAVE to log into Battle.net first as part of Blizzard's terrible idea of DRM. If you don't have internet, you can't play. Period.

Supposedly there was/is going to be a feature where once you logged into battlenet you could play offline for 30days but its bugged or not implemented or who knows what.

Does seem kinda stupid you can't play the singleplayer offline though...I mean isn't the reason they split the damn game into 3 parts was because the campaign was so damn long in the first place?

I *think* you need to be connected to Battle.net to start, but if your Internet goes out while playing, you can still continue with the single player campaign.  However, if you crash/exit before being able to reconnect, all your progress in that session after net outage would be lost.

Between installing borderline malware/rootkit for DRM and shoehorning server-client authentication into a single player game, I have to reluctantly say the second is the less distasteful option.
